MEET OUR E-BOARD

President
Hello, everyone! My name is Stephanie Gallo and I am a senior at St. John's University. I am thrilled to be serving as the current president of Kappa Delta Pi, Kappa Eta 247! I am a childhood education major with a concentration in psychology and I am in the five-year program in the School of Education. Along with KDP, I also serve as the president of Project Sunshine, an organization that volunteers with sick children in hospitals. I love being involved and reaching out to as many people possible! I am looking forward to another fantastic year with you all!

Hi everyone! My name is Teianna Thackurdeen. I am a childhood education major, with an English concentration, in the five-year program at St. John’s University to receive my masters in special education. I am so grateful to be the current co-vice president of Kappa Eta Chapter 247 with Mike Checkers. I can’t wait to meet all of you and make this year the very best. ​

Co- Vice President
Hi! My name is Mike Checkers. I am a senior in the School of Education, studying Adolescent Education with a concentration in History and a double minor in History and International Studies. I will be serving as Co-Vice President with Teianna this year. We are #ChecksandBalances TM!! We are very excited about this year, and look forward to working together with you all!!

Secretary
My name is Capri Fredericks. I am the current Secretary for the Kappa ETA Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society in Education. I am also involved in other organizations on campus such as the Black Student Union. I am - senior this year majoring in Adolescent Education with a concentration in social studies. I’m looking forward to all the exciting things planned for Kappa and I can’t wait to meet prospective new members.

Co- Membership Chair
Hi everyone! My name is Tatiana Lugo and I am a senior here at SJU, studying Childhood Education (1-6), with a concentration in English. I am also in the 5-year program, in which I will be getting my Master's in Childhood Literacy (B-6). This is my second year on the Kappa Delta Pi-Kappa Eta Chapter Executive Board, and I will be serving as Co-Membership Chair once again, but now this year, alongside Briana! I have had the opportunity to work with The School of Education's "In-Addition" math-based afterschool program since my freshman year at SJU, and I am proud to still be a part of the In-Addition team. I have also served as secretary for Carey Hall Council. I am so excited for this new academic year, as there is so much in store!

Hello! My name is Briana Rodriguez. My major is elementary education with a concentration in English, I'm currently a senior and I plan to get my certification in special education when I go to graduate school. I'm the vice president of Project Sunshine, a Co-Membership Chair of Kappa Delta Pi and I'm a member of Best Buddies. I can't wait to see what this upcoming school year has in store!

Treasurer
Hi everyone! My name is Jacqueline Zitzmann and I am a senior at St. John’s University. I am a Childhood Education Major with a concentration in Psychology. I am also in the Five Year Program for Literacy. I was interested in joining Kappa Delta Pi because of the way it unites peers of the same future profession and allows them to share their passions and insight with one another. I am very excited to be the Treasurer of an amazing organization this year! ​

Communication Chair
Hi everyone! My name is Julianna DiBattista and I am the Communications Chair and Webmaster for KDP, Kappa Eta Chapter. I'm a senior at St. John's this year and I'm an adolescent education major with a concentration in English. I am also a student in the 5-Year Literacy program. On top of being in KDP, I am also in the National Honor Society for Leadership and Success. I hope to have a great year with all of you!

Co-Advocacy Chair

Hi everybody! I’m Emily and I’m very excited for this upcoming school year. I am a sophomore and my major is Childhood Education. I’m from Lake Grove, New York and I live on campus. I’m also a part of the Seton Scholars, Student Ambassadors, and work at the Writing Center. This is my first year in KDP and I’m honored to be part of the E-board as a Co-Advocacy Officer! I am looking forward to all of our KDP events this year and hope you are too!

Hi, everyone! My name is Giselle Rosario and I am a junior at St. John's University. I am honored to currently be serving as the Co-Advocacy Chair of Kappa Delta Pi, Kappa Eta 247. I am a Childhood Education major with a concentration in Psychology and I am in the five-year program for Special Education. I am also an active member of the Relay for Life committee, Join Relay and Fight! In addition, I am on the e-board for Project Sunshine, an organization that volunteers with sick children in local hospitals.

Graduate Representative
Hello! My name is Francis Mateo and I am the Graduate Representative for KDP at St. John's. I graduated from the Institute of Design and Construction with an Associates Degree in Architectural Building Design and Construction. I also have a Bachelors an Masters of Arts degree in Theology from St. John's. I am currently working on my Masters in Education at St. John's. I love to read and write, one of my favorite pieces is called "I am an Eye Witness, I am Systematic Change". I hope to have a great year with all of you!

Alumni Representative
Hello all! My name is Eleni Handras, I am NYC Public School teacher and a recent graduate of St. John's University! Here I have completed my Bachelors of Science in Childhood Education as well as an Advanced Certificate in TESOL. I have completed my Masters of Science in Special Education at Queens College.
St. John's and KDP have a special place in my heart, as I have many fond memories here. I enjoy helping others in any capacity I can. I look forward to working with everyone to continue to make these wonderful memories and experiences with all of you this year!
